Spicebush (Lindera benzoin) – Beautiful native deciduous shrub with aromatic green foliage, small yellow flowers that appear in early spring, and bright red berries on female plants in fall. The fragrant leaves release a spicy citrus scent when crushed. A wonderful addition to woodland gardens, naturalized areas, and pollinator gardens. Serves as an important host plant for spicebush swallowtail butterflies and provides berries for birds. Prefers partial shade to full shade and moist, well-draining soil. Grows approximately 6–12 feet tall and wide.
