LSU Purple Fig (Ficus carica ‘LSU Purple’) – Excellent fruit-bearing fig variety developed by Louisiana State University, known for its sweet, rich-flavored fruit with attractive purple skin and amber to strawberry-colored flesh. Produces abundant crops of medium-sized figs that are delicious for fresh eating, baking, preserves, and homemade jams. Features attractive green foliage and a naturally spreading growth habit. Adapted to Southern growing conditions and known for its heat tolerance and productivity. Prefers full sun and well-draining soil. Grows approximately 8–12 feet tall and wide but can be maintained at a smaller size with regular pruning. Self-fruitful, so only one tree is needed for fruit production.
