Methley Plum (Prunus salicina ‘Methley’) – Popular Japanese plum variety known for its sweet, juicy, reddish-purple fruit with deep red flesh. Produces an abundance of delicious plums that are excellent for fresh eating, baking, jams, and homemade preserves. Features beautiful white blossoms in early spring, followed by fruit that ripens in early to mid-summer. Self-fertile, meaning it can produce fruit without another plum tree nearby, but cross-pollination with another compatible Japanese plum can improve yields. Prefers full sun and well-draining soil. Grows approximately 15–20 feet tall and wide, with regular pruning helping maintain a manageable size. A wonderful addition to home orchards and edible landscapes.
