Orient Pear (Pyrus communis ‘Orient’) – A productive Southern pear variety known for its large, round fruit with golden-yellow skin and smooth, creamy-white flesh. Produces firm, juicy pears with a mild, sweet flavor, making them excellent for fresh eating, canning, baking, and preserving. Features beautiful white blossoms in spring followed by fruit that typically ripens in late summer to early fall. Vigorous, hardy tree with good resistance to fire blight and excellent adaptability to Southern growing conditions. Prefers full sun and well-draining soil. Grows approximately 15–20 feet tall and wide. Partially self-fertile, but planting another compatible pear variety nearby can improve pollination and fruit production.
