Vernon Blueberry (Vaccinium virgatum ‘Vernon’) – A newer rabbiteye blueberry variety known for its large, firm, light blue berries and excellent productivity. Produces flavorful fruit with a sweet, mild taste and a pleasant texture, making it excellent for fresh eating, baking, smoothies, jams, and homemade preserves. Features delicate white to pale pink bell-shaped flowers in spring followed by attractive green foliage that develops beautiful shades of red and orange in fall. Berries typically ripen in late spring to early summer, offering an early harvest season. Vigorous, upright-growing shrub with good heat tolerance and excellent adaptability to Southern growing conditions. Prefers full sun and acidic, well-draining soil rich in organic matter. Grows approximately 5–6 feet tall and wide. Requires cross-pollination with another compatible rabbiteye blueberry variety for improved berry size and fruit production.
