Winesap Apple (Malus domestica ‘Winesap’) – A classic heirloom apple variety known for its deep red to purplish-red skin and crisp, firm flesh with a distinctive sweet-tart flavor. Produces medium-sized apples with a rich, spicy flavor, making them excellent for fresh eating, baking, pies, cider, applesauce, and homemade preserves. Features beautiful white to pale pink blossoms in spring followed by fruit that typically ripens in mid to late fall. Vigorous, productive tree that prefers full sun and well-draining soil. Grows approximately 15–20 feet tall and wide. Requires cross-pollination with another compatible apple variety for reliable fruit production.
