Austin Pomegranate (Punica granatum ‘Austin’) – A productive pomegranate variety known for its large, attractive fruit with reddish-pink skin and juicy, deep red arils. Produces sweet, flavorful fruit with a mild tartness, making it excellent for fresh eating, juicing, cooking, and homemade preserves. Features beautiful, bright orange-red flowers throughout the growing season followed by fruit that typically ripens in late summer to early fall. Vigorous, heat-tolerant shrub or small tree that performs well in Southern growing conditions. Prefers full sun and well-draining soil. Grows approximately 10–15 feet tall and wide, but can be maintained smaller with pruning. Self-fertile, so a second pomegranate plant is not required for fruit production.
