Black Mission Fig (Ficus carica ‘Black Mission’) – Popular fruit-bearing fig tree known for its abundant crops of sweet, rich-flavored figs with deep purple-black skin and beautiful strawberry-colored flesh. Produces delicious fruit that is excellent for fresh eating, drying, baking, jams, and preserves. Features attractive, deeply lobed green foliage and a naturally spreading growth habit. Can produce two crops per year in favorable climates, with a smaller early crop followed by a larger summer crop. Prefers full sun and well-draining soil. Heat and drought tolerant once established. Grows approximately 10–15 feet tall and wide but can be maintained at a smaller size with regular pruning. Self-fertile, so only one tree is needed for fruit production.
