Burbank Plum (Prunus salicina ‘Burbank’) – A popular Japanese plum variety developed by horticulturist Luther Burbank, known for its heavy production of large, round fruit with reddish-purple skin and golden-yellow to amber flesh. Features juicy, sweet flesh with a rich flavor, making it excellent for fresh eating, canning, baking, jams, and homemade preserves. Produces beautiful white blossoms in early spring followed by fruit that typically ripens in mid to late summer. Vigorous, spreading tree with good productivity and adaptability to a variety of growing conditions. Prefers full sun and well-draining soil. Grows approximately 15–20 feet tall and wide. Partially self-fertile, but planting another compatible Japanese plum variety nearby can improve pollination and fruit production.
